How Young Kids in Dnipro Are Learning Robotics: Inside the VEX Robotics STEM Intensive Project

For the past few months, the VEX Robotics STEM Intensive project has been bringing together curious young minds from Dnipro who are passionate about science and technology. The initiative is led by the NGO HURTOM, with support from Nova Ukraine and in partnership with NGO Association Noosphere.

Thanks to the program, local students are diving into the world of STEM—especially robotics. Since February, the HURTOM team, guided by Noosphere VEX Events ambassador Tetiana Kovaliova, has been running hands-on classes in robotics and programming. The sessions are based on VEX Robotics kits (VEX GO, VEX IQ, and VEX 123Kids), as well as Arduino.

But these kids aren’t just building and coding robots—they’re also picking up key skills like teamwork, leadership, and project management.

The project also extends beyond students. On May 2, Tetiana Kovaliova took part in EdCamp Dnipro’s event for educators, “Stronger Together: Educational Partnerships and Collaboration.” The event brought together changemakers in Ukrainian education, showing how powerful collaboration can be when different people and ideas come together.

Tetiana led a workshop titled “Robotics in Every School: Myth or Reality? From Makerspace to STEM Classroom.” Teachers had the chance to ask questions, get hands-on with VEX robots, and see for themselves what the platform offers. Some were so inspired, they signed up for the STEM Intensive project to explore how VEX tools could enhance their own STEM teaching.

Projects like this are especially meaningful for Association Noosphere, which is deeply committed to advancing high-quality STEM education and empowering the next generation of innovators and creators in Ukraine.
